Dual Enrollment

Dual enrollment provides students with the unique opportunity to take community college classes while still in high school. The dual enrollment program at Natomas High is a joint program with American River College. Natomas High offers college courses on the high school campus.

Please review the following information prior to enrolling in a Dual Enrollment Course:

  • There is an enrollment procedure that students must complete with American River College. Students will be given this information when they initially enroll in a Dual Enrollment course.
  • Given that this is a college course, students will be earning college credit (if the course is passed), and this course will be recorded with American River College on the student’s permanent college transcript.
  • Natomas High records these classes and grades earned on the high school transcript, as these classes are counted toward graduation requirements and/or credits.  Please read the individual dual enrollment course description for more information.
  • Eligible DE Courses will receive a weighted GPA. Courses not eligible for a weighted GPA may still be accepted by CSU or Community Colleges.
  • Since these classes are college-level, the UC system does not require high schools to include these courses on their A-G lists.  Students applying for college will disclose to the colleges that they are currently enrolled in college courses.  The Dual Enrollment class is listed under the college courses that the student has completed. If the American River College course is UC transferable and falls within the a-g subject areas, it will be counted as meeting a requirement in the a-g list.
  • Students should research the colleges or universities to which they are applying and determine if the Dual Enrollment class from American River College is accepted as transferable credit.
  • When applying to a college, students will need to follow the individual college instructions about submitting a transcript from American River College, as well as their high school transcript.
